Bailey
the Ball Dog (Girl)
Bailey the ball girl was the highlight
at the Opening Ceremonies for Strawberry Vale Minor Fastball.
Bailey has a special talent.
She can find softballs like no other dog…or for that matter
like no other animal or human.
The thick bushes that surround much of the two diamonds at Rosedale Park,
the home of Strawberry Vale Fastball, have a nasty habit of taking
foul balls and hiding them away where no one can find them….except
Bailey.
Bailey is a very special girl, she
is elegant, composed, intelligent and above all very humble regarding
her special talent.

Bailey
receives recognition at park opening ceremonies from president
Peter Salmon (left). And shows off her 2007 collection (right).
For the last five or six years Bailey
has prowled the undergrowth of Rosedale park in search of softballs…and
boy does she find them. Her owners estimate that Bailey
has found more than 600 softballs at Rosedale Park over the last
6 or 7 years. At the current
cost of about seven dollars a ball, Bailey would have saved Strawberry
Vale Fastball thousands of dollars over that time!
Bailey reportedly even found a ball
that was stuck up in a tree!
She picked up the scent she is so good at recognizing and
finally after searching around she looked up in the tree, where
her owners saw the ball and knocked it down….much to Bailey’s
delight.
Bailey was the special guest at the
Opening Ceremonies where she was presented with a token of our
appreciation from the Strawberry Vale Fastball Association.
Thanks Bailey, we really appreciate
your special talent and hope that you will be a part of our team
for years to come!
