Strawberry Vale 2009 Honour Roll

Strawberry Vale Midget C Girls Win Silver at Provincials
Congratulations to the Midget C team coached by Peter Dheensaw and Brad Hoey for their outstanding accomplishment at the Provincials in Summerland this year. Despite the 35 to 37 degree weather they had to play in, they went undefeated in all their games up to the gold medal game. Unfortuneatly they did not have the opportunity the other teams had being able to lose one and still play on because of a rule change by not allowing an if game. Even so they did amazingly well and should be very proud of their Silver medal finish. Well done girls!

Strawberry Vale PeeWee C Girls

The Strawberry Vale Storm have won gold at the Peewee C District 1 Championships at Cordova Bay. The Storm entered the championship game undefeated and met up with a very tough View Royal team. View Royal squeaked out a 9-7 win, forcing the "if necessary" game. In the second final, the teams exchanged leads several times with the Storm battling back from behind then hanging on for a thrilling 17-15 victory. The girls will now be heading to Cloverdale for the Provincial C Championships. Well done girls!

After losing a one run squeaker in the first playoff game to the eventual tournament winners from Parksville, the girls came from behind in the third place game to win a bronze medal.  Way to go girls… we are so proud of you!

Midget B Girls Win Gold in Nanaimo
Strawberry Vale's Midget B Girls won the gold by defeating Nanaimo Breakers '92 by a score of 9-3. This was icing on the cake after earning a spot in the championship game by defeating the Nanaimo Bantam A team in an incredibly exciting 10 inning game. In that game the girls extended the game to the 10th inning by getting out of a “no outs and bases loaded” predicament. And advanced with a game ending double play. Way to go girls!!!
